mom and baby gift set

Mom and Baby gift set

A baby shower was held for my two close friends, and I wanted to gift them with something special rather than something store-bought. So, I came up with a cute idea for a Mom and Baby Gift Set, taylor-made just for them.

You can create a similar gift set with homemade natural ingredients that you hand pick for your specific audience. Personalized handmade gifts are, if you have the time to create them, the best presents.

Our Mom and Baby Gift Set

The first product in the set is a rich, 100% organic and junk-free belly butter, containing unrefined shea butter, rose hip seed oil and apricot oil, and infused with a hint of lavender and chamomile essential oils. This wholesome belly butter will help moisturize and hydrate delicate skin.

The second item in the set is a sugar scrub is made with castor sugar (a more delicate exfoliator than regular sugar), a tad of apricot oil, and essential oils of lavender and chamomile. For a more colorful look, add in a few dry lavender and chamomile flowers while mixing the ingredients.

The last hand-made mommy item in the set are two fizzy lavender bath bombs, again made with a handful of simple, natural ingredients and with enough lavender essential oil to give an awesome aromatherapy session to one lucky mom.

Ultra-moisturizing Mama Belly Butter

You will need

  • 2 1/2 oz Unrefined Shea Butter
  • 1 oz Apricot Oil
  • 1/2 oz Rose Hip Seed Oil
  • 30 drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • 10 drops Chamomile Essential Oil

To Make

Place the shea butter in a double boiler and melt gently. Stir in the apricot and rose hip seed oils, take off the heat and place on a counter until the oil + butter mixture has cooled off and shows a “trace” when you stir it.

Whip it for a few minutes.

Put is in the fridge until the oils + butter mixture is solid.

Take it out of the fridge, whip it, scrape down any butter left on the sides of the container, then put everything in your final jar.

Invigorating Sugar Scrub

You will need

  • 4 tablespoon Castor Sugar* (make Castor Sugar by grinding regular sugar quickly to make a finer, but non-powdery sugar)
  • about 1 tablespoon Apricot Oil
  • Bowl
  • Container
  • 2 teaspoon Glycerin
  • 10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • 5 drops Chamomile Essential Oil
  • Dry Lavender / Chamomile Flowers (optional)

To Make

Add the sugar and the apricot oil into a bowl and stir. You can add a bit more oil until you achieve the consistency you like, but make sure not to over saturate the mix. In a separate container, mix the glycerin and essential oils together.

Next, combine them with the sugar mixture. Stir well, and add a few more drops of essential oils or apricot oil to reach the desired consistency and scent. Add dry lavender or chamomile as decoration.

Soothing Bath Bombs

You will need

  • 1 cup Baking Soda
  • 3/4 cup Arrowroot Powder
  • 1/2 cup Citric Acid
  • 1/2 cup Epsom Salts
  • Bowl
  • Handful of dry lavender flowers
  • 45 drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • Spray bottle with water
  • Bath Bomb Mold (or mold of your choice, silicone mold trays work well too)

To Make:

Sift all the powders and salts into a bowl. Add the dry flowers, and then add the essential oils one drop at a time while mixing. Ensure the flowers and oils are evenly distributed. Spritz the mixture with the water (5 or 6 spritzes at a time) to hold the ingredients together. Compact the mix into the molds of your choice, set aside overnight, and then pop them out of the mold gently.
