Top 5 Beeswax DIY Beauty Recipes

We love Beeswax! It’s been found in the tombs of ancient Egyptian rulers, dating all the way back to 3,000 BC. This means there does not seem to be an expiration for this product. Unlimited shelf-life? Yes please.

Beeswax has anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and wound sealing properties which come together to make this a must have DIY skin care ingredient. We have a list of the top 5 DIY recipes with beeswax, from our favorite bloggers ‘buzzing’ all over the internet.

You can grate beeswax to use it in your recipes, or you can use our easy to measure Beeswax Pastilles. These pellets of goodness melt easily and combine well with other natural ingredients.

1. Homemade Beeswax Cuticle Cream

Cuticles can easily become dry and cracked. They’re on our hands after all, and we tend to do a lot with them! Typing, gardening, washing dishes, and other activities can really start to take their toll. Beeswax is the perfect base ingredient for a cuticle cream like our favorite recipe found here on Thirty Handmade Days. The ingredients are simple yet effective, which include:

  • Honey
  • Beeswax
  • Carrier Oil of your choice
  • Essential Oil for scent

2. Lavender Beeswax Candles

yellow beeswax candleStore bought candles contain ingredients known as fragrances which are not heavily regulated by the FDA. When you let these chemicals burn in your home, it actually contributes to air pollution as well as indoor pollution. Fun fact: AC filters become clogged more quickly when you’re burning store bought candles. We absolutely love using homemade beeswax candles without using any chemicals, like in this recipe from Southern Zoomer. Ingredients include beeswax, lavender oil, and natural glue for the wicks. Easy, peasy.

3. Solid Perfumes

Essential oils smell yummy, and have unique therapeutic properties we can all enjoy. Perfumes using natural ingredients are a good alternative to expensive department store perfumes which have alcohol and preservatives as main ingredients. (We think the natural alternative smells better anyway) You can make your own using this recipe from My Life at Play Time using these ingredients:

  • Beeswax Pastilles
  • Jojoba Oil
  • Essential Oils
  • A cute tin container

4. Belly Butter

top 5 diy recipes with beeswaxFor pregnant moms, stretch marks are a worry that’s added on to an already swollen belly. It can be uncomfortable and the belly can become dry and stretched. To solve this problem, you can use a belly butter like this one from Jellibean Journals. The ingredients reduce stretch marks, moisturize your belly, and make for a much more comfortable time while pregant. Pregnant mommas deserve moisture, too. The ingredients and recipe are simple, using:

  • Cocoa Butter
  • Shea Butter
  • Coconut Oil
  • Almond Oil
  • Beeswax

5. Homemade Lipstick

Wellness Mama is one of our all-time favorite DIY skin care bloggers. She knows her stuff, and uses the best ingredients available. A-hem, Better Shea Butter 😉 Lip sticks can dry out lips, thanks to harsh ingredients and chemicals that sit on top and absorb, causing premature aging and more. This Wellness Mama recipe for homemade lipstick has natural goodness inside it to moisturize lips and protect them from harm. There are many natural colorant options, but the base recipe contains:

  • Beeswax Pastilles
  • Shea Butter (or Cocoa Butter)
  • Coconut Oil

With so many uses and options, it’s easy to see why this versatile skin food is used in recipes all over the web. Try it for yourself, you’ll fall in love too. We promise.
